How Lynn University Alum, Alberto Gomez, Continues to Make a Positive Impact at Lynn Through The Watson Institute
Since graduating in 2019, Alberto Gomez has been working with the Watson Institute and currently is their Senior Director of Operations.
When Gomez graduated high school, his original plan did not include college. He took some time off school to join the military. However, in 2016, he made the decision to leave the military and begin looking into schools with entrepreneurial degrees, which Lynn was one of the few schools to have one at the time. Due to his veteran status and the fact that Lynn is a yellow ribbon school, he was able to have his education fully paid for.

“I want to bring exposure to other veterans who are transitioning and trying to figure out where they can get an education that they can get value from,” said Gomez. “I was essentially able to get a full ride through Lynn which helped me be less stressed about how I would pay for school, and I took this opportunity to get everything out of the school possible.”
During his time at Lynn, Gomez took advantage of on-campus employment opportunities and meeting with professors to make connections, which he urges other students to do as well.
“I would try to set up coffees with professors and other things outside of the classroom,” said Gomez. “They’re a really great resource for learning how to interact with the business community because they’re living the things that they’re teaching.”
In his current role, Gomez focuses on the Human Resources aspect of the Watson Institute and building a positive culture in the workplace. All of his work is done remotely, which has benefited him greatly.

“When COVID hit and we had to move everything remotely, it was definitely an adjustment to learn how to manage myself daily with work tasks,” said Gomez. “But working remotely has allowed me to jump between different entrepreneurial hubs and create connections I’d never get if I had to stay in one physical location.”
One of the many things that Gomez’s current job entails is acquiring new talent for the Watson Institute. They are currently hiring entry level positions which come with many benefits. If you are interested please visit the Watson Institute website.
