Rhode Lip Peptides Have Turned Deadly
One of the most popular beauty brands today, Hailey Bieber’s Rhode Beauty, is involved in yet another scandal after not properly labeling their lip peptide product with an allergy warning.

While the brand is transparent about using orbignya oleifera seed oil in the product, which is derived from the babussa nut, they have not placed an allergy notice on the product or their website. The ingredient’s original intention is to prevent moisture loss from the lips, however, it has been leading customers with tree nut allergies to have allergic reactions.

“There is no nut warning," says one TikToker in a viral video about her allergic reaction to the product. "That is extremely concerning. So for my tree nut allergy or nut allergy people, do not get the peptide lip treatments. And Rhode, I'm waiting on my email from you back."
Since the viral video release, many other customers with nut allergies have come forward stating that they have experienced hives, rashes, and swelling after using the product.
“My lips swelled and I was uncontrollably itchy on the lower portion of my face,” said one TikToker who experienced an allergic reaction.
In order to access the full ingredient list on the Rhode website, one must view the product, click to see a full ingredient list, and then click on the text for the orbignya oleifera seed oil, where it is finally detailed that it is a nut-based oil. This has lead many to question if Rhode and Hailey Bieber are intentionally hiding the fact that the product contains tree nuts in order to make more money.
It is estimated that over 4 million Americans have tree nut allergies. The company has yet to make a public statement on the matter.
