Club Members Discuss Lynn’s New Chapter of The American Advertising Federation

During the Spring 2024 semester, Lynn University officially began their chapter of The American Advertising Federation.

The AAF strives to ensure the wellness of the world of advertising through hosting different programs, award ceremonies, networking events, and other events to connect those who are interested in advertising. Their membership options include both professional and college chapters.

With over 120 professional chapters, and over 200 college chapters, the AAF club provides a unique opportunity for students to network. This year, Lynn students have fully taken advantage of the opportunities that AAF has to offer both on and off campus.

“We’ve been able to attend a ton of professional events through the AAF Palm Beach and Broward chapter,” said Senior and chapter Vice President, McKenzie McFarland. “The members in the professional chapter have been so welcoming, and its been great to make connections throughout the industry.”

When the chapter was founded in the spring, members' main focus was to compete at the National Student Advertising Competition. However, this year, members have begun hosting events on Lynn’s campus as well to build community and educate students on advertising, no matter what their major is.

“Working on events with AAF of South Florida has really helped us learn more about event planning, which we can relay to the students,” said Senior and chapter Treasurer, Hayden See. “We’re working to bring in some professionals to Lynn and having them help our students learn what professional advertising is like and if it is something they’d want to do.”

While the chapter may seem like just another club to many, it has helped all of it’s members break out of their shell and realize they have a true passion for advertising.

“Since competing in the National Student Advertising Competition last year we’ve really become a family,” said Junior and chapter President, Eliana Nunez. “Before AAF, I wasn’t really involved on campus so it’s really opened me up to different people and helped me feel more confident.”

The chapter is currently looking for new members, across the entire Lynn community. If you are interested in design, strategy, marketing, or just meeting new people, please connect with the board via Blueprint.
